Fitness: Yoga For a Piece of Mind

Happy Wednesday! There is a big storm approaching today and the weather predicts that it will be a slushy mess outside. Therefore, I thought this is the perfect opportunity to talk about my calming at home 35 minute yoga session last weekend. It helped me clear my mind and focus on the present. If you do not have time for a 35 minute session, just taking 10 minutes out of your day to connect your mind and body will help a great deal. With all the crazy weather and busy days at work, it's worth the time and effort.

This flattering gray matching set is from Target! Love their activewear because of the great fit, affordable prices and practical designs. The material is great quality - the items last a long time. Adidas is definitely my favorite sports brand at the moment. I love how they stay true to the simplicity of their original branding while adding different takes and twists on the design. My white Adidas cap is from Nordstrom. I find myself reaching for this all the time because it goes with everything and fits really well. It also comes in two other colors. These bright neon orange/peach kicks are fire! I found some stylish shoes styles in the same color range at Adidas - HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. Now time for the yoga session deetz! I did about 10-15 poses. Aside from the Sun Salutation, I aimed to hold each pose for 1-2 minutes. The Sun Salutation is a series of poses in motion. Make sure you breathe in and out through your nose for optimal breathing. The key is not to focus too much on your flexibility or perfection of the pose, but to move gracefully, and focus on the mind and body connection.

Key Yoga Poses:

-Trikonasana (Triangle Pose)
-Utkatasana (Chair Pose)
-Parivrtta Utkatasana (Revolved Chair Pose)
-Uttanasana (Forward Bend)
-Anjaneyasana (Crescent Lunge)
-Virabhadrasana III (Warrior 3 Pose)
-Ustrasana (Camel Pose)
-Natarajasana (Dancer Pose)
-Prasarita Padottanasana (Wide Leg Forward Fold)
-Malasana (Garland Pose)

Last but not least, Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutations). When my body was warmed up, I did about 5 rounds of this. I closed my yoga session with 10 minutes of meditation. I found an easy to follow Sun Salutation guide on Pinterest for those of you who are beginners and would like more clarification :)

Ciao for now,
Italiana
