8 Things to Boost Hydration for Winter Dry Skin

Hello loves! I wanted to share my favorite things for winter dry skin. I have super dry skin in the winter and combo skin in the summer time. This winter has been really cold with spurts of warm days. With the weather rapidly changing and temperatures at single digits, these steps/items come in handy. They are my go-to holy grail saviors. I praise every single one of these, and use them just about every day.

1. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Deep Moisture Balm: It's said to last 24 hours. I don't think it lasts 24 hours, but it keeps my face hydrated for a long time. It's paraben free, fragrance free and silicone free. It leaves my skin feeling more comfortable, soft and smooth. I normally apply it on my face before I put on a full face of makeup and before bed. In the past month, I've applied this to my face almost every night before bed, and I see a difference. It give my face that clean finish and somewhat lifts my skin. Kiehls skincare has been around for a long time and I find myself always going back to their products.

2. Out of Africa Raw Wild Shea Butter: This is the only product that works for my dry hands and body. It's really the best. I discovered this about 4 years ago and it's my holy grail. No body lotion or cream tops this - when it comes to hydration and moisture. It is not greasy or oily. It has a hard consistency and lasts a long time. A little goes a long way. I've had the same tube for over a year, and it's only half way used. It absorbs nicely and leaves the skin feeling very soft and smooth. I apply this every time I get out of the shower.

3. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask: This stuff is paradise in a tube for lips. If you don't have this, you are missing out! I put this on my lips before bed about 5-6 times a week. Honestly, I would do it every night, but sometimes life gets in the way and there's too much going on! This makes my lips feel like a cloud. Keeps them sooo moist. When I wake up the next morning, I feel like my lips died, went to heaven, and were born again. The packaging is also really cute, which is a plus. It comes with a really cute q-tip like applicator that makes it easy to apply. I'm not a fan of constantly using my fingers to apply a lip product. I feel like it's gross and too much work. So I really LOVE this one.

4. Desert Essence Tea Tree Shampoo: My hair gets really dry with a lot of static in the winter. I try to use conditioner only once a week because I find that it makes the static worse. This shampoo hydrates my scalp. The worst is to have a flaky scalp that causes white particles. It's not inviting. So, I make sure to use this shampoo and I really love it! The main ingredient, tea tree oil works wonders. I wash my hair about 2-3 times a week in the winter. I find that my hair feels stronger and healthier when I go the extra day before washing. That's where the classic messy bun comes in handy!

5. Derma E Hydrating Scrub: I discovered this brand in 2017 and I like many of their products. Definitely have more natural ingredients. This is specifically for the face. This one moisturizes the skin while exfoliating. It is sensitive and does not over dry. I like to use this after I remove my makeup with makeup wipes or a makeup removing solution. I let it sit on my face 5 minutes after I scrub my face and before removing. After using, I notice my skin is a little brighter and more supple. I do this 6-7 days a week. Almost every night before bed, I find it really helps to keep my face moist.

6. Eco Tools Body Dry Brush & Bathe in Warm (Not Hot) Water: I try to do this 2 times a week. in the shower or right next to my shower over a towel, I dry brush all the dead skin away with this brush. I really like this one especially because it has a nice hand band so my hand stays put and I have a better grip when brushing my legs and arms. It also makes it easier to touch parts of my back that are hard to reach. Excessive hot water not only dries the skin, but long term causes wrinkles. It is always better to bathe in warm, room temperature water. Sometimes, I like to turn the dial to cold water the last minute of my shower. It increases blood flow and circulation.

7. Tatcha The Deep Cleanse: This stuff is a miracle worker. I don't know what special ingredient actually does he trick, but it leaves my face feeling so soft and supple. It does not over dry the skin like most cleansers. I find that it really clears all the oils and dirt from the day off. I always notice my pores become clear and less visible. I use this about 3-4 times a week. I make a note to use this every time I put a full face of makeup on. It's easy to use and does not make too much of a mess.

8. Drink Water: I find that my lips and hands are the first parts of my body to get dry. We get so busy with day to day activities that we forget to simply drink water and stay hydrated. We must put water in our bodies if we want to see results in out skin. To me, this is the single most important piece. I aim for 96-128 ounces of water per day.

I found this fun water image from the internet. It provides ways to stay hydrated!

Do you use any of these products now? Have you heard of them before? Let me know what you think! Send me a message, email or leave a comment!
